LOGISTIC COMMITTEE FOR EAST AND WEST EUROPE
STATEMENT OF GOALS
A main goal of the congress is to identify the
state of the art on all possible forms of recycling nuclear waste,
including:- Accelerator driven transmutations,
- Gamma stimulated nuclear
transmutation,
- Nuclear transmutations based on intense electric or
magnetic fields,
- Means for recycling the plutonium of nuclear weapons,
- Recycling via chemical processes,
- Means to improve the safety of nuclear
power plants,
- Means for transporting radioactive waste,
- and other
topics.
From the complexity of the problem of nuclear waste, the
congress is expected to cover most of current and new, scientific and
industrial knowledge in nuclear physics. Particular attention will be
given to quantitative treatments of the problem of recycling via the
most advanced possible mathematical methods and computer visualizations.
Following the meeting, a panel of experts is expected to release an
appraisal of the most promising individual forms of recycling and their
combination. The proceedings are expected to be published without
limitation on length on individual contributions so as to have a
comprehensive record of the current knowledge in the field.
SPEAKERS
Scholars involved in the various aspects of the problem of
recycling are invited to submit their talks to any member of the
Scientific Committee, including contributions on:- Governmental policies
on radioactive waste;
- Legal issues related to the transportation and
storage;
- Forms of recycling nuclear waste based on prior storage;
- Forms
of recycling for use by the nuclear power companies in their own plants;
- Recycling of radioactive waste of medical origin;
- Chemical means of
recycling;
- Computer techniques in recycling;
- Advanced mathematical
methods;
- and other topics.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Participants are expected to obtain the necessary
funds from their home institutions. A limited amount of funds is
expected to be available for travel support. To apply for travel
support, please send a letter of application as soon as possible with a
short description of the work suggested for presentation at the meeting.
REGISTRATION FEE
A registration fee of U. S. $ 150 is requested for
all participants. This fee is needed for deposits on hotels, restaurants
and other services and, as such, it is not refundable. Payment of the
registration fee is suggested to be made as soon as possible with a
check on a U. S. bank, international bank check or Visa, Master Card,
American Express sent to:
I.B.R., P. O. Box 1577, Palm Harbor, FL 34682, USA
The registration fee also includes a copy of the individual volume
containing the contribution by the participant.
